Description: Spring 2006 shows a return to femininity in both styling and colouring. Provence shows this trend beautifully with lace, ruffles and flowers and also Aqua Marine with a simple soft seaside feel. Tribal makes the dramatic statement of the season with the stronger use of colour and design. Photographed on location in Sicily by Gisella Toress and styled by Emma Freemantle.

Provence – A very feminine story inspired by the softness of the Mediterranean countryside, coloured with the use of aged floral pastels. Featuring Calmer, 4 Ply Cotton, Kidsilk Haze, Cotton Rope, Cotton Glace and Summer Tweed.
Aqua Marine - A soft, watery story inspired by the freshness of the sea. Predominately a blue palette lifted by tones of mint, aqua, lilac and stone. Featuring Summer Tweed, Kidsilk Haze, All Seasons Cotton, Cotton Glace, Calmer, Denim and Handknit Cotton.
Tribal – An intense story evoking an ethnic hand crafted look. Colouring and patterning is dramatic, inspired by the textile art of African and South Pacific indigenous tribes. Featuring Calmer, All Seasons Cotton, Handknit Cotton, Cotton Glace, Summer Tweed and Cotton Rope.

Denim Embellishment – An Inspiration: An article inspiring the creative decoration of Rowan Denim yarn and denim jeans fabric. Cleverly designed by Sarah Hatton and featuring ‘Salcombe’ by Lois Daykin. Photographed by Mark Scott and written by Juliet Bernard.

Fashion Revival: A feature defining how and why designers continue to look to the past for inspiration for contemporary fashion design. To illustrate this, our new Rowan designer Marie Wallin, has designed three elegant styles in Kidsilk Haze, inspired by the Regency, Victorian and Flapper fashion eras. USA Knitting Today: An exciting new article which we hope will become a regular feature in future magazine editions. American artist Sabrina Gschwandtner describes the current trends influencing American hand knitting and crochet design.
